BOOK THIS ARTIST

While growing up in England, Dimitri Nakov spent his years listening to artists such as Radio Caroline, Kiss, and Warehouse through Acid House. Having been influenced by such artists, he began to DJ at an early age at his own events near Brighton, which featured guests John Digweed, Billy Nasty, Marc Spoon, Stacey Tough, and many more artists from the post acid-house progressive scene in England.

In the mid-90’s, Dimitri moved to London to work for Sasha as a studio assistant in her new studio. There he worked on early projects such as “Be the One” and eventually became Sasha’s opening DJ on the Northern Exposure Tour. Touring with Sasha and other artists including BT, Fuke, Danny Campell, and Jon Digweed opened new doors for Dimitri and led him to Narcotic Records, which was Roger Sanchez’s label in London. He spent his time at Narcotic Records working as a production and co-label manager for Deep Dish, Masters at Work and Ashley Beadle, among others. Soon after, Dimitri continued his playing, working with DJ Harvey in the Ministry of Sound and Cocorrico in Rimini, and also returning to some of his favorite venues including Space, Ibiza, Liquid Rooms, Tokyo and Fabric, and his hometown of London.

Following this, he spent a majority of his time working for F&G Management and POP Promotions, doing radio and DJ, as well as creating press for Chemical Brothers, Fluke, Underworld, FSOL, Massive Attack, Dimitri from Paris, Sasha, and other underground labels and DJ productions. His work experience in so many different fields has allowed him to understand many sides of the industry within a wide spectrum of music including studio, press, promotions, production, A&R, and DJ-ing.

Around 1997, Dimitri worked as a DJ and an A&R representative for TIP Records. During his time here, he was responsible for numerous TIP compilations and label parties. He was also responsible for establishing 10 Kilo (break-beat) and Surround Sounds Records (house).

In 2002, he continued his freelancing A&R position while beginning work for Spun Records as a DJ. While working at this firm, Dimitri compiled the Time and Space series for Maia Records in Mexico and the Usual Suspects CD 1 and 2 for Solstice Records. He was also expanding his popularity as a DJ by embarking upon an extensive global tour with performances in America, Japan, Europe, Australia, Mexico and Brazil. He was also a performer at many of the biggest trance festivals such as Samothraki, Voov, Mt. Fuji, Trancendence, and Boom.

In 2001, TIP released Dimitri’s Dat Bag. At the same time, Dimitri collaborated with Serge Soque (ex Total Eclipse) and Dado of Deedrah and ex Transwave fame to form a new group titled The Bad and The Ugly. As a group, they released 2 singles and various compilation tracks for Twisted, Solstice, and TIP.

Dimitri’s tracks have also been released on Spun, Hommega, Twisted, Solstice, TIP, 3D Vision and Spectrum in collaboration with GMS, Astrix, Hallucinogen, GBU, Absolum, Talamasca and Spectrum, respectively.

Dimitri is currently DJ-ing extensively for Spun and Solstice and working in the studio on GBU and on a new DJ mixed CD. He is also the co-producer of BMF, a huge, electronic music festival in Brasilia, Brazil with an estimated attendance of 65,000 every September.
